Tharparkar district is situated in the south east of the province of Sindh in Pakistan, largely comprises of sandy Desert. Geographically, it is spread over 19,638 square kilometres with seven Talukas, 64 Union Councils (UCs), 172 Dehs and 2,365 villages with an estimated 1.6 million human population, who are facing 6th consecutive drought. According to National Disaster Management Authority (Drought Situation Report-2018) overall Tharparkar received low rate of precipitation as compared to last four years which has adversely affected Livestock and Agriculture in 167 Dehs (out of 172) which are the main livelihood sources of 276,152 marginalized families of Tharparkar.
OBJECTIVE-1: Provision of fodder to the drought affected families for improving livestock health and reducing mortality.
NUMBER OF LIVESTOCK TARGETED: 15,000 livestock (14,500 small animals and 500 large animals)
OBJECTIVE-2: To meet the immediate basic needs most vulnerable groups in the drought affected targeted villages.
NUMBER OF FAMILIES TARGETED: 250 families through unconditional cash grants
